3 Ways to Stop Sabotaging Your Success

by | Feb 2, 2022 | Business, Mindset

As an entrepreneur, obstacles pop up when you least expect them but you dig in and find a way to overcome everything that’s thrown your way. Having a knack for overcoming challenges is essential to success. And while it might not be easy, climbing those mountains is where the real results come from.

But sometimes, we’re the source of our difficulties. No matter how badly we want to succeed, we just can’t get out of our own way.

Listen, even the most successful entrepreneurs deal with self-sabotage at some point or another. Here are 3 of my favorite tips to move beyond this issue for good.

Tip #1: Take Care of Yourself

As an entrepreneur, you have a lot on your plate. Between running your own business and attending to the necessities of life, self-care often sits on the backburner for far too long. And this can be a huge problem when it comes to finding success. If you don’t feel your best, you’ll never be able to perform your best.

So, set aside some time for self-care every day. Find some time to exercise, even if it’s just a walk. Do something you enjoy just for the sake of it – without the pressure to do it right or make money off of it. When you head back to work, you’ll find you have better focus and clarity to do your job better.

Tip #2: Know Your Bad Habits and Work to Change Them

Real talk: we ALL have bad habits. Some habits, like drinking too much coffee, probably don’t play a part in sabotaging your success, but others, like procrastinating, definitely do. Take some time for self-reflection and try to identify any habits that are getting in the way of your success at work.

Change can be difficult. You probably won’t kick your bad habits to the curb overnight. But knowing what’s holding you back and actively working to make a change will eventually pay off.

Tip #3: Find Help if You Need It

Sometimes, work and life just throw more at you than you can handle. When that happens, there’s no shame in seeking out some help to get through whatever is going on. As an entrepreneur who’s used to doing everything on your own, this might feel unnatural, but it can make success so much more attainable.

Help can come in all kinds of forms. If you’re having a hard time keeping up with your business finances, think about bringing on a bookkeeper to get things in order. If you have a lot of ongoing tasks that you can’t manage, think about bringing in an assistant.

Sometimes, we all get in the way of our own success. Taking the time to recognize what we’re doing wrong and making changes puts us on the right track toward achieving our goals. Take care of yourself, ditch your bad habits and find help when you need it to get even closer to the success you’ve been dreaming of.
