Here’s a fact for you today: business is rarely consistent for 12 months straight.
No matter who you are or what you do, you’re probably going to discover that some months are slower than others. For example, fitness coaches often experience a business boom in January when people make New Year’s resolutions and again in the summer when everyone is getting in shape for bathing suit season, but other times of the year can be more sluggish.
It’s important to plan ahead for these slower months, so today we’re taking a look at 4 tips to help you make it through and thrive.
Tip #1: Use the Time to Work on Your Business
First off, don’t get discouraged during the slower months. Experiencing peaks and valleys is totally normal and you can use slow periods to your advantage. Try to focus on improving your business and planning ahead for the busier seasons to come. It’s a great time to develop new offerings, improve systems, revamp your website and tackle any other tasks you’ve been putting off when you’re slammed the rest of the year.
Tip #2: Offer Promotions
Running promotions can help boost your revenue when business slows down. Grab your audience’s attention with compelling value-packed bundles, limited-time offers or exclusive products and services. Even if it isn’t the most popular time for your customers to be buying, the right promo will capture their interest and persuade them to purchase.
Tip #3: Try New Strategies
The slow season is the perfect time to expand your current marketing plan and test-drive new strategies. If you’re usually focused on Facebook and Instagram, try a new platform like Pinterest or YouTube to gain new followers. You might also consider contributing guest blogs or pitching yourself as a guest to podcast hosts to build brand awareness and reach a bigger audience.
Tip #4: Connect with Previous and Current Clients
If it’s not a good time of year to find new business, take some time to reconnect with your previous and current clients. Reach out to them directly to see how they’re doing and offer to help them with any current challenges they’re facing.
Slow times are a part of doing business, but you can prepare for them and use them to make your business stronger for the busy months to come. Work on your business, offer promotions, try new strategies and connect with previous clients to make the most of this time.
