Four Little-Known Hacks to Breaking Through the Overwhelm of Running a Business

Time for some real talk: Running a business can be super overwhelming. Between writing your content, developing your offers, talking to clients and taking care of the daily admin, it seems like the work never stops. 

Here’s the thing, you don’t need to accept constant overwhelm as your normal state of mind. There are lots of things you can do to minimize the stress and anxiety that come with running a business. 

What are they? Well, here are 4 of my favorite hacks that you can start using today! 

Hack #1: Make a Schedule

Get started by taking stock of everything you need to get done. (And I mean everything!) From the most basic daily tasks to client projects, new product development and marketing, you need to know what’s on your plate. 

From there, take some time to prioritize those tasks. What needs to get done now? What can be broken down into smaller tasks? And what can be put off for later? Having this visualization in front of you will cut down on stress and anxiety fast.

Hack #2: Know Your Limits

You’re not a superhero, so don’t pretend to be one every day. There’s no doubt you’re capable of a lot, but you also need to recognize that you can’t always do it all. 

If you feel like you’re burnt out, overworked or unmotivated, it’s okay to step back and take a break. You’ll come back stronger and feel more prepared to tackle the next tasks on hand when you give yourself time to rest. 

Hack #3: Stay Organized

Getting and staying organized might sound like a lot of extra effort, but it will save you time and energy in the long run. Things are so much easier to manage when everything has its place, and you know where things are when you need them. 

Schedule a specific time to prioritize your organization system and stick with it every day. You can even set aside a few minutes at the end of every workday to organize your files and your physical workspace.

Hack #4: Ask for Help

Asking for help can be scary or unsettling but it shouldn’t be. You can’t be great at everything in your business, so finding people whose strengths are your weaknesses can give you a huge boost. 

For example, if you struggle with keeping up with your bookkeeping, hire a bookkeeper to take this task off your plate. You’ll free up time to use on other areas of your business AND feel better about the work you do.


Running a business doesn’t have to be overwhelming. Make your schedule, know your limits, stay organized and ask for help when you need it to cut down on the stress and anxiety that comes with being a business owner.
